Vintage Rally
The Annual vintage rally in aid of the Meals on Wheels and Senior Citizens will take place on July 18th Full details next week.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Tommy Brennan, staff and students on achieving Green Flag Status for the school, Mick O’ Dwyer raised the flag last Thursday. It was a very proud day for Scoil Nicholas Naofa.
Community Games
Winners at the County Community Games last weekend in Shillelagh were
Under 8- 60m Gold – Alan Miley
Under 8 –80m- Gold- Jack Reid.
Under 12- 100m- Patrick Kelly.
All three will represent Wicklow in Athlone in August.
Silver medal winners were Mark Reid Under 10 Hurdles. Patrick Healy Under 12 Ballthrow, Pauric Carmody Under 14 Long Jump. Lyle Hood in the under 14 100m.
Mixed Under 8 relay
Niamh Darker, Clodagh Kelly, Dolores Healy, Alan Miley, Jack Reid and Mark Murtagh.
Bronze
Under 13 Mixed Relay
Lisa Lawlor, Mary Healy, Shane O’ Rourke, Patrick Kelly.
Henry Healy picked up 4th in Under 10 Hurdles.
Well done to all who took part, it is not the winning it is competing.
St. John’s Festival
The Kildare Steiner School will host a St John’s Festival at the school on June 25th.This will be an open day of Music, Dance, games and Bonfire. It all kicks off at 5pm. Anyone interested in the Steiner method of education is invited to come along and chat to parents and teachers on the night. Rumour has it there will be really special Pizza served on the night,
Baltinglass Day Care.
A fundraiser in aid of Baltinglass Day Care centre will take place on Saturday June 26th. It will be a mountain walk from Glenmalure across Croaghnamoira and Fananierin Mountains. Leaving from Glenmalure Lodge at 11am. Sponsorship cards available from Rita Craigie on 045 403128 or Sarah Page 045 403173. €25 sponsorship required to do the walk. Fabulous walk and well worth doing for the sights.

Ildra are running a long distance festival in Donard on July 17th and 18th 2010. The ride will be 10km and longer rides will be available . There will be a |BBQ on Saturday along with a horse show.

Sympathy
Sympathy is extended to the Harney family Colbinstown, on the death of their mother May, (nee Daynes).on May 30th 2010. May was pre-deceased by her husband Jimmy, daughter Mary and son Shay. May is mourned by her sons and daughters Pat, Charlie, Rose, John, Margaret, Anne, Joe and Dennis, sisters Sr Dympma Australia) Alice (Kit), brother Tom in Canada, and many relatives and friends, May’s funeral took place to Dunlavin cemetery on June 1st.after 11am Mass in St Nicholas of Myra Church.
Sympathy is extended to Teresa McCormack Station Road on her sister Pauline O’ Brien during the week. Pauline’s (nee Kealy )was a native of Dunlavin, funeral took place in Tallaght last week. May Pauline rest in peace.
Graveyard Clean Up
A clean up of the cemetery will continue to take place next Wednesday June 23rd at 7pm. If you can help out can you bring your own equipment strimmers, mowers etc. All help would be appreciated. The annual blessing of the graves will take place on August 22nd at 7pm. Please tell your family and friends.
Badminton

Death
The death took place on June 2nd of Jim Farrell of Killinane, Dunlavin, in the care of the staff of St. Vincent’s Hospital Athy. Jim is mourned by his wife Bridie, sons Christy, John and Seamus , daughters Clare, Mary and Sheila, sister Bridget, and many relatives and friends.Jim’s funeral took place to Gormanstown Cemetery. May Jim rest in peace.
Bingo
Bingo takes place in the Imaal Hall every Saturday night at 9pm. The funds raised by the Bingo goes towards the upkeep of the Imaal Hall and well worth supporting.
Library Opening Hours
Dunlavin library opening hours are as follows Tuesday 6.30pm to 8.30pm, Wednesday 3pm – 5pm and 6.30 –8.30pm, Friday 11am –1pm and 3pm to 5pm, Saturday 11am -1pm. Closed on the Saturdays of Bank Holiday weekends. Lots of new publication available for both adults and children.
Recycling
The dates for the mobile recycling unit have changed to the 1st Saturday of every month from 10am to 12 noon. The unit will take newspapers, cardboard, plastic bottles and old clothes.
