Tidy Towns

A National Treasure!

Tidy Towns as a national initiative was established by Bord Failte in 1953 and has been running successfully ever since. The inaugural event saw fifty two towns entering, today the average number of entries is closer to seven hundred. The competition is funded through a mixture of public and private money used primarily for the organisation of the competition, promotion and a substantial prize fund.

Dunlavin Tidy Towns

The results of the Tidy Towns 2010 were published with the overall winner being Tallanstown, Co. Louth. Dunlavin Tidy Towns are very pleased to report that Dunlavin achieved 211 points an extra 8 points on last years result. This may not seem like a lot but believe us each 1 of these extra points is very hard earned. The report recognised the many improvements throughout the town while also identifying areas that need improvement. We will continue to work on improving this next year with the continued support of all the Community. We would like to thank in particular the participants of the new Fás scheme, the Residents, the Sponsors and everyone who helped out during the year on our work nights and weekend clean-ups. The full report is available in the Post Office and the Library and in the link below.
